The company Guido Panerai and Figlio was founded in 1860 in Florence (Italy). It became the official supplier to the Italian Navy. In 1936 the company was named Officine Panerai. That year it presented a watch Radiomir. It was a watch for divers created for a secret group. In 1938 several thousands of Radiomir watches were produced.

In 1943 the company launched a water-resistant chronograph Mare Nostrum. In 1950 a more perfect watch Luminor was created. It had a mechanism of pocket watches Angelus with 8 days power reserve and high water resistance.

They used some components on the base of tritium to create the watch with brighter hands and a dial and called it Luminor. Tritium made lighting brighter and due to it the watch got its name. But it should be mentioned that Luminor and Radiomir looked alike. The company was kept in secret till 1977. Then it was bought by Vendome Luxury Group. Since that time a great number of Panerai watches were remade in limited edition series.

But in 1993 everything changed. That year several Luminor watch models were sold freely. They had another caliber called Unitas but that was the same well known model. For the first time every simple man could buy such an amazing watch enveloped in mystery and heroism.

Probably there is no another company in the world that has such a great number of admirers as Panerai has. Moreover its number continue growing all over the world. First of all it is evident in USA where volumes of sales increased twice last year.
