Best Watch Companies Awarded at Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix

The prize-giving ceremony of the Seventh Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix took place in the famed Grand Theatre of Geneva.

The most prestigious prize - the 'Golden Hand' Grand Rrix Prize - was awarded to a remarkable timekeeping creation of Richard Mille - RM012 watch. The Hublot Company was honored to received the 'Jewelry Watch' Grand Prix Prize for its amazing '1 Million Dollar Big Bang.'

The prize-giving ceremony was attended by over 1,500 guests. Among the guests there were famous collectors and some of the leading representatives of the Swiss watchmaking industry. Asa part of the event, the visitors were invited to watch a 3D film celebrating the many facets of Geneva. Each of the winners donated a piece of their prize-winning model to the Watch and Enameling Museum of the City of Geneva.

Grand-prize winner Richard Mille received the prestigious trophy from artist Roger Pfund. Among other top honorees there were Jaeger le Coultre - the brand won the Special Jury Prize for its 'Reverso Grande Complication a Triptyque,' and Jean-Marc Wiederrecht (Agenhor SA), that was named the winner of the Best Watchmaking Prize.

Cartier won the nomination of the Ladies' Watch Prize, while Voutilainen received Men's Watch Prize. Audemars Piguet was honored by two awards - the Design Watch Prize received for its 'Millenary Watch with Deadbeat Seconds,' and the Sports Watch Prize for its 'Chronographe Royal Oak Offshore Allinghi Team.'

Harry Winston was honored to receive the Complicated Watch Prize. Zenith's 'Defy Xtreme Open Stealth' bought the company the Public Prize. Those who voted for the prize were also entered into a drawing to win one of three timepieces supplied by Chopard, Montblanc and Franc Vila.

Finally, as an original way to encourage the watchmaking tradition, the ceremony presented an award for best first-year student at the Geneva Watchmakers' School. The prize was received by Bastien Anderes. The happy winner was presented with a watch-tool case created by Montblanc and an internship with the company.
