Exclusive Co-Axial Chronograph to Join OMEGA Planet Ocean

Data: May 25, 2007

In 2007 Omega has added a new timepiece to its highly demanded jewelry Planet Ocean collection - the Orange Mecanique Co-Axial Chronograph. The fully functional chronograph watch has acquired glamorous look due to irresistible orange sapphires and white diamonds. The COSC certified chronometer and chronograph reflects Omega's quest for excellence, having comprised many functions of the original diver's watch. The timepiece sports a helium escape valve(found at 10 o'clock) and boasts water-resistance down to 600 meters (2000 feet).

The beautiful and fully functional Orange Mecanique Co-Axial Chronograph has successfully combined eye-catching gems and first-rate engineering. The dial in white gold is covered by a layer of black mother-of-pearl. As a result, the dial features a nice dark blue shade. The dial contrasts with the bright orange alligator strap and the bezel decorated with baguette cut sapphires. Baguette cut diamonds mark the hours alternating with the orange Arabic numerals. At 3 and 6 o'clock you will notice the chronograph thirty minute and hour totalizers, while at 9 o'clock there is the small seconds.

The Orange Mecanique timepiece provides supreme readability as its faceted rhodium-plated arrow-like hour and minute hands are covered by the Super-LumiNova coating. The stainless steel case, 45.5 mm in diameter, has a screw-in crown and case back. The case back is embellished with the Seamaster seahorse medallion. The helium escape valve reveals the embossed 'He' standing for the helium chemical symbol.

The white gold bezel offers a variety of five different combinations of orange sapphires and baguette cut diamonds:

  • only orange sapphires
  • one diamond to every two sapphires
  • a row of diamonds from 12 to 3 o'clock and a row of sapphires from 3 to 12 o'clock
  • a row of sapphires from 12 to 3 o'clock and a row of diamonds from 3 to 12 o'clock
  • sapphires alternating with diamonds at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock.

Omega master watchmakers equipped the Planet Ocean Co-Axial Chronograph with the Calibre 3313. This is a self-winding mechanical movement that offers a 52-hour power reserve. The brand's patented Co-Axial escapement technology is applied for reducing friction in the heart of the mechanism. It provides enhanced reliability and accuracy.

The officially certified COSC chronometer is also improved by a free-sprung balance. The column-wheel mechanism is responsible for perfecting the chronograph performance. It guarantees the sweep of the seconds hand smooth start when the chronograph is switched on and provides precise stop and reset functions.

The rhodium-plated movement reveals a luxurious finish. Its bridges are decorated with Geneva waves, circular graining and gold-plated engraving.

To boast optimum clarity, the domed, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal is provided with anti-reflective treatment on both sides. The overall look of the timepiece is finely completed by an orange alligator strap with a stainless steel fold-over clasp.

The Omega Orange Mecanique Co-Axial Chronograph may be presented as a nice gift for a person who appreciates items of dazzling beauty and technical prowess.
