Jaeger-LeCoultre Reveals Innovative Duometre Chronograph

Data: Jul 28, 2007

The Jaeger-LeCoultre manufacture has recently unveiled a new collection, the Duometre . The Duometre a Chronographe, characterized by distinctive style and unique technical features, has become the first timepiece to enter the line. In the heart of the timepiece there beats a newly developed Calibre 380, given the 'Dual-Wing' nickname.

Calibre 380 is based upon two independent mechanisms respectively responsible for driving the time display and an additional complicated function. The operation of the two mechanisms is synchronized by the same regulating organ. Each mechanism is provided with its own energy source with no interaction between them.

Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 380 drives time displays with precision worth a chronometer status. The chronograph function of the mechanism features exceptional indications and precision.

One going train is responsible for displaying hours, minutes, and seconds function. The other going train maintains the chronograph function, with a one-sixth of a second jumping seconds hand.

The watch's power reserve reserve implies 50 hours of conventional timekeeping and 50 hours for the chronograph function. There is a single crown for winding the two barrels. If the watch's owner rotates the crown clockwise, he winds the time. When he rotates the crown counter-clockwise, he winds the chronograph. The Duometre a Chronographe is the very first chronograph wristwatch with a single push-piece that allows to coordinate the five chronograph counters.

Besides the complexity of the functions, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre a Chronographe provides supreme clarity and readability. On the watch's dial you will notice two large symmetrically-positioned sub-dials - one with the watch hour and minute hands is found at 10 o'clock, and another with the chronograph hour and minute hands is featured at 2 o'clock.

The chronograph sub-dial sports an aperture with a special disc indicating from 0 to 9 minute units. The company received a patent for this new type of display. The display allows the watch's user at a glance to read the time elapsed in hours and minutes, with no need to carefully study the minute hand's position.

The Duometre a Chronographe's dial also sports two power-reserve indicators . The first indicator for the conventional watch hand is positioned at 7 o'clock, while the second for the chronograph function is found at 5 o'clock. At 6 o'clock you will notice the jumping-seconds hand that jumps in one-sixth of a second increments.

For the watch's owner not to get lost in this great variety of indications, the Jaeger-LeCoultre designers' team have applied a distinctive color code to every function. The hands for the conventional time function and for minutes, seconds, and power-reserve indications, are gold- or rhodium-plated, depending on the model's version. The hands for the chronograph hours and minutes, the minute-disc numerals, the chronograph seconds and the jumping-seconds hands are crafted in blued steel.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre a Chronographe watch will be created in pink gold and platinum. The watch's 18K yellow gold edition will be available in a limited series of 300 pieces.
