Lange Home of Time Opened in Dresden

Those who have been lucky enough to visit the Lange workshops and see with their own eyes the master watchmakers concentrated at their complicated and delicate work, have personally witnessed how much craftsmanship, precision and passion are required for creating the timepieces under the 'A. Lange and Sohne' brand.

Unfortunately, not every watch lover has the opportunity to visit the town of Glashutte, located in the Ore Mountains, south of the baroque city of Dresden in Saxony. The A. Lange and Sohne, the brand famous for its rich and well-maintained horological traditions, have recently developed a new sales concept. It now offers all aficionados of the horology a unique opportunity to experience the process of creating precision timepieces outside its workshops.

The brand opened the first of its exclusive new stores in July 2007 at Topferstrasse 8 in Dresden. Everyone who comes to the store is welcome to discover the World of Lange presented on a smaller scale. It is a really special place, a true home for Time. The store visitors are invited to find out more about the history and philosophy of A. Lange and Sohne.

Having opened the first boutique in Dresden, the traditional watch manufacture from Saxony has come back to its roots, tracing back to the baroque city on the river Elbe. The store has been located right in the town where the brand's story started - Ferdinand Adolph Lange lived here before he moved to Glashutte in 1845 and founded the precision watchmaking in Saxony. In Dresden the brand's founder mastered his trade from the famous court watchmaker Johann Christian Friedrich Gutkaes. Here the watchmaker met his wife Antonia, his master's daughter.

Due to all the above-mentioned historical facts, Dresden has been chosen for establishing of the first Lange representation in the world. The restored historic center, located not far away from the rebuilt Frauenkirche and the Neumarkt, invites everyone interested to the first exclusive 'embassy' of the manufacture.

This neighborhood bears a special significance. In 1994, there began the reconstruction of Dresden's Frauenkirche, the landmark destroyed by the fire of World War II. And in the same year, the first A. Lange and Sohne collection of the new era was revealed at the Royal Palace of Dresden, having provided a good start for new international watchmaking success.
