Vacheron Constantin 'Only Watch 2007' in Platinum

Vacheron Constantin has developed a one-of-a-kind timepiece exclusively for "Only Watch 2007" auction. The auction is organized on behalf of the Monaco Association against Muscular Dystrophy.

Vacheron Constantin master-watchmakers, designers, and engineers have opted for platinum to create the timepiece from. The brand's Malte Tourbillon Tonneau-shaped watch has a case, dial, carriage bridge, strap stitching and buckle crafted in 950 Platinum.

The choice of the company's specialists is well-grounded as the characteristics of platinum make this metal highly-demanded in the medical field. Platinum does not react to the blood's oxidizing effect. It is also valued as an excellent conductor, and at the same time compatible with living tissues.

Never before along the history of the Vacheron Constantin Manufacture had the brand developed a tourbillon with a platinum carriage bridge. Taking into account the malleability of the metal, this carriage bridge represents a real horological feat of the brand's master watchmakers. It required extremely complicated crafting process, having yet acquired a top level of finishing.

Besides the platinum carriage bridge, the timepiece's case and dial are also produced from solid platinum. They are both endowed with the Pt 950 hallmark. The watchmakers subjected the dial to meticulous graining process, having applied a high-tech procedure in order to achieve a frosted effect of the texture and underline the precious metal's luminosity.

As a final touch, the alligator leather strap in navy blue shade has been hand-sewn with platinum thread. It is equipped with a solid platinum pin buckle. The strap finely corresponds to the tint of the case and dial, creating a harmonious eye-pleasing impression.

The successful combination of the mentioned above unique features gives the new Vacheron Constantin timepiece a status of extreme rarity.
